Spring Break: Top Destinations Black Students Are Booking Their Tickets To

Table of Contents

We all love some fun in the sun. Spring Break is the kick-off point to an amazing time filled with friends, music, and sun-filled days. However, the recipe for enjoying your time is making sure you pick the right place!

Let’s be real no one wants to be stuck partying to music they’re not into or around people who just aren’t catching their vibe. Over the years, black students have taken the vacation period into their own hands and have created spaces and places that are literally “the place to be”.

Does Urban Spring Break, Black Beach Week, and Black Spring Break ring a bell?

Taking heed to their wave, venues and festivals have started to pop up with headliners we all love with all-inclusive festivities we can all enjoy.

Check out these top destinations black students are booking their tickets to, to get their party on for Spring Break this year:

Kingston, Jamaica

Jamaica on any given month is beautiful, but during Spring Break, it gets even more magical when it gets flooded with thousands of American Black students and travelers each year.

During the months of March and April, you can find the annual month-long Bacchanal Jamaica Festival going on with parties galore and a finale parade taking over the streets.

Miami Beach, FL

Oh, Miami… An all-time favorite of mine. If you want a guaranteed fun-filled time each and every day, definitely mark this destination on your list. Ranked as the official #2 U.S. Spring Break destination, Black students have coveted this location as the most affordable and best place to visit during Spring Break.

Parties will be hosted by the hottest in the game and the beach will be filled with

melanin. Trust.

Las Vegas, NV

Vegas may not be near a beach but it sure is filled with spring heat and pools-side vibes. Black students tend to frequent this short getaway as a chance to bathe in the sun, bar crawl, and save a coin or two!

Austin, Texas

Each year the event that brings out the most music lovers is the SXSW Music Festival.

Singers, DJs, and rappers come in droves to see live performances, party in the Texas heat, and brush elbows with music’s top executives and artists.

Biloxi, Mississippi

Infamously known to bring out record numbers of Black students nationwide, Biloxi Black Beach Weekend is the ultimate destination.

If you want to really let loose and live the last of your early twenties with a bang, go, but be safe!

Indio, California

The festival that everyone dreams to go, but only a few actually make it to is Coachella.

Once an all-white event has crossed over into the urban, R&B, and hip-hop world as a glamorous getaway.

With The Weeknd and Ye (Kanye West) as recent headliners, the event is marked as a must-see. Frank Ocean is set to hit this stage this year, and yes you guessed it: It’s sold out!
