There are many benefits to exercising and incorporating a regular exercise program into your routine. It is never too late to start. You don’t necessarily have to start out with strength training although you will want to add it at some point for bone density purposes. The idea is to get moving. You can swim, walk, run, bike, hike, etc.
Here are nine reasons why regular exercise is beneficial:
It will increase your mood by releasing endorphins. You will feel happier. It helps to boost energy levels and helps regulate stress and anxiety as well as depression.
Regular physical activity also helps boost the libido, which can help improve or enhance sexual performance.
It’s important for building muscle and strengthening bones. Regular exercise helps slow down or prevent osteoporosis. It can help prevent injuries.

It can help with weight loss. Exercise can increase metabolism, which in turn helps to burn more calories.
Regular exercise decreases your risk of developing chronic health diseases. It also helps regulate blood sugar and insulin levels.
Exercise is good for the brain. It triggers the release of hormones that help with the growth of brain cells. It boosts blood flow to the brain, which enables more oxygen to travel to the brain.
More oxygen to the brain helps improve memory by increasing the size of the hippocampus. This is the part of the brain that is
responsible for memory. This is important to help slow down the brain’s aging process. It also helps protect the brain from diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
Having younger, healthier skin is another benefit of regular exercise. It helps promote the production of antioxidants, which help repair skin cell damage and stimulate blood flow.

Our sleep patterns improve as well with regular exercise. It helps promote restful sleep and improves our body’s circadian rhythm (the body’s sleep cycle).
Being more fit can be very helpful in overcoming long-term injuries or chronic pain, like lower back pain for example.
If you’re looking to improve in any of these areas, then starting a regular exercise program will reward you with lifelong benefits. Get started today. It’s never too late.
