At BlackDoctor.org (BDO), we believe that healthcare equity isn’t just about meeting diversity quotas or having DE&I measures in place—it’s about earning the trust of Black patients and their families. This year, we’ve taken a bold step to redefine what it means to provide exceptional care by asking 1,000 Black doctors, “Which hospitals do you trust most with providing quality and equitable care for your family members?” This question, grounded in personal experience, has allowed us to identify the hospitals that not only excel in medical outcomes, but also foster an environment of trust, respect, and cultural competence.
The disparities in healthcare that disproportionately affect Black communities are well-documented. However, identifying hospitals that are actively closing these gaps and prioritizing Black health is essential for lasting change. This list of Best Hospitals for Black America is more than just a recognition—it’s a call to action for other institutions to learn from these leaders and adopt practices that ensure equitable, high-quality care for all. By highlighting hospitals that are setting the standard for Black patient care, we are moving closer to a healthcare system where everyone, regardless of race, has access to the care they deserve.
It’s no longer enough to have DE&I measures alone within our health systems. We need to focus on who doctors trust to care for their families. – Reggie Ware, CEO, BlackDoctor.org.
We are proud to announce the hospitals that have demonstrated a commitment to providing equitable, high-quality care for Black patients. These institutions have been recognized by Black doctors across the nation as trusted places of care for their families.
