President Trump Tests Positive for COVID-19; Many Skeptical

It seems like there is always something going on at the White House that makes the regular, everyday American go, “really?”

The latest news has people second-guessing the President’s authenticity and truthfulness…again.

President Trump just shared that he and his wife tested positive for the coronavirus COVID-19, a disease that he has downplayed a lot in the beginning, but now seems to take it more seriously.

Trump is showing mild symptoms of Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, according to Mark Meadows, the White House chief of staff, on Friday.

But the timing of his diagnosis is what has people questioning if this is real or if it’s just another media ploy to gain sympathy, support and votes during this election year.

This diagnosis comes on the heels of a scathing debate where he was seen as a bully who kept talking over his opponent, former Vice President, Joe Biden, and who wouldn’t denounce white supremacy.

As news of the President’s diagnosis got out, an outpouring of support and “get-well” messages started flooding social media.

How convenient, huh?

The president, who said early Friday morning that he had tested positive for the virus, has had what one person familiar with the situation described as coldlike symptoms.

At a fund-raiser he attended at his golf club at Bedminster, N.J., on Thursday, where one attendee said the president came in contact with about 100 people, he seemed lethargic.

On late Friday morning, the first lady Melania Trump, said on Twitter that “I have mild symptoms but overall feeling good.”

“I am looking forward to a speedy recovery,” she said in the tweet.

A person briefed on the matter said that Mr. Trump fell asleep at one point on Air Force One on the way back from a rally in Minnesota on Wednesday night.

A White House official said that as of Thursday night, the president’s treatment plan was still being discussed.

So was a possible national address or a videotaped statement from the president to demonstrate that he was functioning and that the government is uninterrupted.

Throughout the pandemic, Trump has downplayed the coronavirus and America’s 207,000 (and counting) death toll, which is more than any other country in the world.

He has also repeatedly compared the virus to the flu, despite knowing as far back as February that the coronavirus was more deadly.

Trump continues to insist that a vaccine will be widely available before the end of the year, contradicting the government’s own scientists.

He has resumed in-person fundraisers and held at least three indoor, crowded campaign rallies with little social distancing or mask usage.

And during the presidential debate on Tuesday, Trump mocked Biden for wearing a mask too often. “When needed, I wear masks. I don’t wear masks like him.

Every time you see him, he’s got a mask. He could be speaking 200 feet away from me, and he shows up with the biggest mask I’ve ever seen,” he said.

Longtime friend, and vehement supporter of trump, Rudy Giuliani also recently got tested for the virus. Giuliani and his girlfriend Maria Ryan tested negative for COVID-19 on Friday.

Giuliani, who spent last weekend at the White House helping Trump get prepared for Tuesday night’s debate, rushed with Ryan to get tested after the president revealed overnight that both he and the first lady had been diagnosed with COVID-19.

“All negative,” the 76-year-old former New York mayor said in a text message.

Giuliani, who also traveled with Trump to Cleveland for the debate, said his “security man” also tested negative.

Like the 74-year-old president, Giuliani’s at higher risk of developing severe complications from COVID-19 because of his age.

Trump isn’t the only world leader to contract Covid-19. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have all tested positive and recovered.

I read somewhere that one of the oldest tricks in the book is that “when you don’t like the conversation being said about you, change the conversation.”

You be the judge.
