Best Face Wash For Your Skin Type

Skin is a unique and important part of the body. It is imperative when cleansing that you are using the proper products. Wouldn’t it be great if I could help you cut down on all the buy, try and disposal of so many worthless products? Here is a breakdown of great options based upon your skin type.

Normal/Even

This means you have limited skin issues (e.eg., blemishes and imperfections).  A face wash such as Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash ($24, Sephora.com) exfoliates and adds moisture to the skin.

Oily

You need some additional assistance with removing the “greasy” feeling on your skin. Dermatologist-created Glytone Exfoliating Gel Wash for Oily Skin ($30, Dermstore.com) is a great option. It exfoliates and removes oil from the skin. During dry winter months remember to use in conjunction with a light moisturizer. You never want your skin to get too dry.

Acne-Prone

Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser ($30, Sephora.com) works over a course of time with continuous usage. It enhances the skin by ridding it of acne, age lines and enlarged pores.

Dry

Try skin-friendly Philosophy Purity Made Simple ($23, Sephora.com). This product has minimal chemicals and uses natural substances such as sage, chamomile and carrot to help keep skin hydrated.

Sensitive

With sensitive skin, chemicals are a no-no. This is the best type of product for sensitive skin. Try Fresh Soy Cleanser ($38 at Sephora.com). It contains soy proteins, to help give your skin an extra boost without the harsh ingredients.

Make Your Own!

If you don’t like those brand options in the store, you can make your own. Here’s a quick recipe that we love. When making a homemade cosmetic product, everything must be aseptic and clean.

Step 1
Squeeze two small lemons or limes into a ceramic bowl. This ingredient is essential for removing excess oil.

Step 2
Add 3 tbsp. of honey and 3 tbsp. of plain, unsweetened yogurt. African American skin normally has large pores and…

… using ingredients, such as honey and yogurt, helps to nourish and moisturize even during a quick facial scrub.

Step 3
Add 2 tbsp. of fine, plain oatmeal. Use a high-quality oatmeal, one with soft grains that won’t be too tough on the skin. Note that if oatmeal is left open, it becomes more crispy and hard in a few days; therefore, it is better to use soft oatmeal from an unopened package. You can substitute oatmeal with corn flour: both of these ingredients make excellent abrasive agents in a facial scrub recipe.

Step 4
Mix the ingredients thoroughly with the tablespoon, until they form a homogeneous paste. If you want a less complicated facial scrub, follow the next step.

Step 5
Combine 1 tbsp. of baking soda and 2 tbsp. of oatmeal with just enough water to soak the oatmeal and create a thick mixture.
