Morning Shower Vs. Night Shower: Which One Is Better?

shower
Morning or Night shower

Personally, I shower when I wake up as opposed to showering at night. The reason? Just like many others, it actually wakes me up. Also, I thoroughly enjoy when the warm water cascades down my face. Besides awakening me, it is also the last moment of relaxation before commuting to work – if I woke up early enough to do so. But just like everything in life, whether you shower at night or in the morning, there are pros and cons involved.

Of course you can take a shower in the morning and night if you’re so inclined, but check out the pros and cons if you want to decide which is better for you.  Which will you decide?

Morning Shower:
Pros

Featured on BlackDoctor

-It wakes you up! :  A morning shower can even be used a replacement for coffee if you’re trying to cut back.

-Morning hair: If you don’t like the way your hair looks after a long night’s sleep, jump in the shower and let the magic happen.

MUST READ: Use Your Shower As A  Time To Be Most Creative

-Relaxation before work: Adults have busy schedules. It seems as if as soon as we wake up we are thrust into our daily responsibilities and activities. A morning shower can not only help you relax before that, but it provides a space for you to think about the day and plan accordingly.

Cons

-Time: You have to wake up earlier to shower in the morning. If you don’t live alone, you also have to…

… plan your shower around whenever others plan to use it.

Night Shower:
Pros

-Saves time in the morning: You can sleep longer, and you do not have to worry about waiting your turn for the shower when you should already be on your way to work.

-Relaxation from the day: It’s therapeutic to take a warm/hot shower after a hard day’s work.

-Clean sheets: It takes longer to dirty your sheets if you shower at night. Think about it.

Cons

-Body temperature: The rise of your body temperature after a shower can disrupt your sleep pattern (this can work as a pro if the temperature-rise actually helps you sleep).

-Unfavorable hair: Wet hair may dry in peculiar positions.

How To Make It Work For You:

The biggest drawback for taking a shower in the morning is the time that it takes up. If you can’t picture yourself functioning without your morning shower, the solution is to take care of everything else that consumes your morning time…ahead of time. This includes things like: choose and iron your outfit the night before (my grandmother chooses her outfits for the whole week), put wallet/purse/bag/keys all by the door (or at least in the same spot every day) so you do not waste time locating them, etc.

For a night shower, the state of your hair the following morning is a big concern. To avoid this, shower at least two hours before you sleep, leading to a drier head when you sleep. Ladies: In order for your to look exactly how you want without showering in the morning, pin it up before you go to sleep. This keeps it in tact.

Keep in mind that showering at night has the ultimate pro because it cleanses your body from the filth of the day.
