That was the close, right? I mean, you just, you just kind of brought it all together, tied a nice bow on top. But no, I wanna, I wanna sincerely thank everybody, one, for coming today. I wanna thank our sponsors, our partners, our KOLs, our thought leaders, and just everyone in this room that is so passionate about a mission that I'm very passionate about. I often get the question, like, why did I leave the sexy world of, you know, media and celebrities and hanging out with, you know, basketball players and entertainers, actors, musicians, you know, many of whom you all know, right?
And, you know, being more on the, I guess, the flashier side of media to come to Black Doctor. And what I said was, you know, before this, you know, you know, it wasn't about the title, it wasn't about the business opportunity, it was really a calling. And it was a calling for me from personal experience. about ten years ago, I lost my brother suddenly, to cardiac arrest. he was forty-six years old. He had what they call hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which is the enlargement of the heart, led to an arrhythmia, and it was undiagnosed. He had no clue. He looked as healthy as could be, ate healthy, went to the gym one day, and never made it back home.
And, he had an eight-month-old daughter who is now eleven years old, and she never got to know her father. and so, you know, she's gotten to know him through Luckily, he was one of seven siblings, so it was a lot of us. and so we're able to kinda tell her about her father.
and that really just cemented, my passion for, for I mean, I've always been to, to, to wellness and health. I've always tried to stay fit, work out, you know, and, and be conscious of my numbers, be conscious of what I put in my body. you know, I regularly get checked up and so forth, but that really was the kinda eureka awakening moment where I was like, "This is real," right? "And this is a matter of life and death, literally." and so when I got the call, from the recruiter or the LinkedIn message from the recruiter, I saw it as a divine alignment. I saw it as me stepping into this season of my life, and really aligning my, my, my, my passion and my mission for, you know, what I call the, the civil rights movement of the twenty-first century, which is health equity, right?
Every human being should be entitled to health, access to healthcare, and access to, and the ability to afford to take care of not only themselves, but their family. And so, it's days like this that are just reminders that what we do is so, so, so important. And what's so encouraging is that I know that it's not just me, it's not just Black Doctor, there's an army of people, each one of you in this room, who understand the mission. And so as we depart this part of the, the, the Top Blacks in Health, celebration, we obviously got the gala tonight, we're gonna turn up. you know, I, I leave inspired, and I leave, you know, just continually hopeful for what the future could look like.
And so thank you all for your commitment and, we'll see many of you later this evening.
Enjoy the rest of your day. Take care.
