Handsome Hollywood star and sex symbol, Morris Chestnut, has been making ladies swoon since his appearance in Boyz N The Hood back in 1991. Fast forward 30-plus years and the handsome actor is married to the same woman for over 30 years, has two grown children now, starred in The Best Man movie series including the hit TV series, The Best Man: The Final Chapters.

He starred in the series “Diarra from Detroit” on BET with rave reviews. Now the 57-year-old actor continues to star in Reasonable Doubt and takes on the role of high-powered lawyer Corey Cash. His character makes his debut at Binder Hurwitz Stewart law firm.

Chestnut is staying booked and busy as CBS has given a straight-to-series drama order for a new series coming out called Watson, from CBS Studios. Described as a “medical show with a strong investigative spine,” Watson is a modern-day version of one of history’s greatest detectives as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.

The premise of the show starts one year after the death of his friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty. Dr. John Watson (Chestnut) resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though – Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century.

“We are thrilled to feature such a beloved character from the world of Sherlock Holmes at the center of this series and have it brought to life by Morris Chestnut in a fresh and unexpected take on the immortal doctor,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment in a statement. “Craig Sweeny’s bold new vision for the complex Dr. Watson deftly interweaves rich character storytelling with edge-of-your-seat medical mysteries.”

Even though Morris is married with kids in real life, he doesn’t have your typical “dad-body” with love handles and a beer belly. But, at one time, he actually did.

Back in 2014 when Chestnut hit the media circuit to promote his acting projects, Morris had transformed into an incredibly chiseled man. But, the truth is that not long before shooting that film, Morris was in the worst shape of his life—35 pounds heavier than he should have been, over 220 pounds, avoiding the gym, and frequenting the drive-through.

Knowing he would be on screen again and with more skin showing this time, he turned to celebrity trainer Obi Obadike to help him turn things around in time for the movie–and the results speak for themselves. Morris went from 220 pounds to a lean and ripped 187 pounds in just 12 weeks, and audiences haven’t stopped raving about his new look—or asking how he achieved it.

In fact, Morris and Obi teamed up to share this life-changing and accessible program with fans nationwide. Morris is literally calling out all those who want a better body and want to lose weight, to use him to do it.

Featuring Morris’s personal exercise and diet plan, including delicious recipes like carne asada tacos, as well as success stories from dozens of everyday people who have lost weight and kept it off, this book shares his game-changing routine.

“There were a couple of shirtless scenes he had to do in the movie, and Morris had to look lean and muscular for that film,” explains Obi. “So when he came to me in December 2012, he was literally in the worst shape of his life.”

“I ended up helping him lose 33 pounds in 12 weeks to get him in the best shape of his life at 44 years old. He ended up landing the November cover of Muscle and Performance in 2013 the same month his movie came out. So between the fitness magazine cover he was gracing and his lean, ripped body in the movie, people were raving about his transformed physique.”

“When he did the national TV tour to promote the movie, every TV host kept talking about his ripped body in the movie more than the actual movie itself. He credited me on all these TV shows as the guy who helped train him. We were both bombarded with tons of emails and messages asking what was his exact weight-loss diet and training program.”

“I texted Morris shortly afterward and said I think we should do a book together…”
And here we are, six-packs and ripped arms and thighs later at age 53. Great job Morris!
