Ice Cream Cleanse To Lose Weight: Does It Work?

So, there is always a new weight loss fad out there. Some are better than others, and in this case, some are quirkier than others. What’s most important is are they really healthy?

There have been several reports of people explaining that they lost weight after eating five pints of ice cream for four days straight.

While on the diet, women may have 1 cup of ice cream, and men may have 1½ cups per day (you should use low-fat ice cream that contains 125 calories or fewer calories per half-cup serving, for a total of 250 calories for women and 375 calories for men).

The secret to the diet is the calcium. A recent study found that overweight people who took a calcium supplement lost 26 percent more body weight, and 38 percent more fat than those who ate the same reduced-calorie diet, minus the supplement. Another group in the study received calcium by eating three or four servings of dairy products totaling 1,200 or 1,300 milligrams of calcium a day, and lost 70 percent more weight, and 64 percent more fat on a high-dairy diet.

Anthony Howard-Crow, a 32-year-old online trainer and YouTuber in Loveland, Colorado, embarked on a diet that consisted of 2,000 calories a day of ice cream, 500 calories a day of protein supplements, and a bit of recreational alcohol. Nothing more. Nothing less. For 100 days.

Howard-Crow survived the diet. Some might even call it a success, in that he lost 32 pounds, and saw improvements in his blood work.

The only drawback? His mood.

“This diet was, hands down, without a doubt, the most miserable dieting adventure I have ever embarked upon,” he says.

Kippy Miller of Kippy’s Ice Cream has been making raw ice cream for over five years, and if you are like me, you are probably wondering what the heck is raw ice cream. Next door to Kippy’s unique ice cream shop is a Kundalini yoga studio started by Guru Jagat, the ice cream cleanse co-creator. Jagat says that, “Kundalini yoga is meant to work the body, mind, and spirit.” Kippy and Guru Jagat’s cleanse comes with a strict regiment of Kundalini. “It’s a double whammy of detoxification,” says Miller.

If in some ways your meals are limited, you most likely are going to be eating less—and therefore you are most likely going to be losing weight.

That doesn’t mean it’s necessarily good for you or healthy, though.

While you might lose weight, the weight comes all right back because it’s not a sustainable lifestyle approach.
