Grammy Award-winning artist Kelly Rowland has a heart of gold and this month it’s going red. The heart health advocate has teamed up with Burlington Stores and WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease for their #KnockOutHeartDisease campaign to educate women around the country about heart disease and the importance of practicing heart-healthy habits. Heart disease is the #1 killer of African American women and of all women in the U.S.
“I’m excited to join Burlington and WomenHeart’s #KnockOutHeartDisease campaign and admire their continued commitment to educate women about the importance of their heart health in effort to save lives,” says Kelly Rowland in an official press release. “I encourage women to get their heart health screened and when they do, be sure they tag two friends to do the same with #KnockOutHeartDisease.”
Rowland, who recently co-starred in Lifetime’s rom-com Love By the 10th Date, helped kick off the campaign at Burlington’s flagship store in New York City, along withWomenHeart Champions, who are women heart disease survivors and community educators, spokespersons and heart health advocates.

According to the American Heart Association, knowing your numbers – such as blood pressure, cholesterol and BMI (body mass index), is the start to protecting your heart.
High blood pressure (hypertension or HBP) is often referred to as a “silent killer” because it can be symptomless and quietly damage your blood vessels. Left unchecked, serious health complications can arise, including heart failure and heart attack.
