How To Pick The Right Jeans

Woman trying to close jeans button with difficult from fat

Trying on jeans can be a pain. They either fit your waist but are too short. Or they’re the perfect length but too baggy. Allure has rounded up 4 tips to help you choose the perfect pair.

Think small

Jeans tend to stretch nearly half a size, so they should be very snug when you first put them on. You should be able to button them, but they should feel almost too tight from your butt to your calves. (The exception is raw denim, which has no stretch.)

Pay attention to detail

– If you want to add volume to your backside, jeans with flap pockets will give you a lift.

– But if you’d rather divert attention from your bum, pick a brand that is as plain as possible.

– Jeans with obvious distressing (holes, bleaching effects, et cetera) are a big trend at the moment, but it’s best to avoid them if you are trying to minimize your thighs. Instead, look for a darker wash and contrast stitching that swoops slightly inward at the knee (rather than running straight up and down the leg), which creates the illusion your thighs are thinner than they actually are.
