You probably already know the general product rules for your best hair: Look for creamy shampoos and conditioners with moisture-maximizing ingredients like shea butter, olive oil and/or jojoba oil. Don’t be afraid of treatment oils and deep conditioners that you can apply one or twice a week for even deeper moisture and repair.

But what hair beautifiers and problem solvers can you find right in your kitchen?

Healthy Home Remedies for Shine Hair

#1. Egg

Egg yolk, which contains protein, essential vitamins and fatty acids, is a very popular, inexpensive and easy dry/damaged hair remedy.

1. Instead of (or mixed into) your regular conditioner, massage two beaten egg yolks into your hair.

2. Rinse out and enjoy instant sheen.

#2. Avocado & Egg

The combination of avocado and egg replenishes moisture.

1. Mash an overripe avocado until it looks ready for guacamole.

2. Mix in one beaten egg yolk and 2 tablespoons of olive oil.

3. Massage into damp hair, tuck under a shower cap, and leave on for 15 minutes to an hour.

4. Rinse, shampoo and condition as usual.

#3. Lemon

Lemon is very well know as an instant detoxifier and brightener.

1. Combine the juice of one lemon and one cup of water.

2. Use the mixture as a final rinse after shampooing to brighten dull locks.

#4. Coconut & Honey

Coconut oil has a wonderful effect on the healthy hair and skin, and this mask will protect and hydrate your hair.

1. Take a large bowl, pour in it a little of your regular conditioner then add some honey and finally coconut milk to it. Leave the mixture cool down, for 2 days in the refrigerator.

2. It will solidify and you will be able to apply it to your hair more easily.

3. Begin massaging it into your scalp with the tip of your fingers.

4. Leave it for 40-45 minutes then rinse it off.

5. Repeat the process every two months.

#5. Olive Oil & Honey

This is an outstanding homemade deep conditioner!

1. Combine one tbsp. of olive oil and one tbsp. of honey.

2. Completely melt the mixture in the microwave for a maximum of one minute.

3. Remove the conditioning treatment from the microwave and stir it to further blend.

4. Section your hair into manageable parts and begin applying the mixture. Make sure to spread it from your roots to the hair tips. Continue covering your hair with the mixture until there’s none left.

5. Place a plastic cap over your hair and sit under a hair dryer for 30 minutes. If you’d prefer to limit the amount of extra heat, warm a towel and cover your head with it for 45 minutes.

6. Finish the process by rinsing it out and styling as usual.

#6. Egg & Honey

This conditioner does moisurizing and strengthening double-duty!

1. Take the yolk of one egg in a bowl and add one tablespoon of honey, half a teaspoon almond oil and one tablespoon yogurt.

2. Mix well to form a paste.

3. Apply it thoroughly onto the hair and scalp.

#7. Rosemary & Olive Oil

1. Treat your hair to this hot oil treatment to replenish lost nutrients. Combine a 1/2 cup of rosemary leaves and a 1/2 cup of olive oil into a plastic container.

2. Heat the mixture in a microwave for one minute. Make sure that the oil is not too hot for your scalp before applying.

3. Before you apply the condition remove rosemary leaves.

4. Part your hair in several areas and begin applying the rosemary olive oil. Saturate the strands with the mixture from the roots to the tips of your hair.

5. After the application, wrap a towel around your head for 15 minutes.

6. Rinse your hair to remove any excess oil and for easier styling. Perform this treatment twice a month to promote a healthy scalp and hair growth.

In addition to trying any and all of the above hair treatments, ensure that you’re also taking care of ALL of you – your hair is only as healthy as you are.
