F.a.T Gurl Fitness: An Inspiration to Us All

“Anybody ever look in the mirror and wonder…HOW DID I GET HERE???”

That’s a question that Jamie, aka “F.a.T Gurl Fitness” on Instagram asked herself. Now, don’t get your panties in a bunch by asking, “why does she call herself fat?” Well, the “F.a.T” in F.a.Tgurlfitness stands for “Focused and Transforming.” Experts will tell you that in order to transform anyone’s body–especially your own–you need to be focused, and Jamie has done just that. But it wasn’t without a battle. A battle started in the mind.

“I spent a year wallowing in my mess and gaining weight,” explains Jamie on her Instagram post. “And when I found myself at almost 270 pounds standing only 5’2 I knew I had to make a change. I made up my mind that I was no longer going to live unhealthily and knew that I needed a true lifestyle change and not another fad diet!”

It was in this fight that Jamie found one of her many talents: motivating others.

“I thought about it! I tried! I failed! I tried again! I failed yet again! I thought about it again…and then I found my FIGHT! I was built for this! My ancestors weren’t quitters so I won’t be one either! The journey continues!”

Nowadays, Jamie is healthy, happy, and looks absolutely incredible! It’s through her three-pronged philosophy that she’s helping others achieve their weight loss goals as well.

“My personal philosophy is that we must change our Mind (how we think about our health and weight), our Mouth (what we allow to go into it and what we allow to come out of it/words) and our Movement (being active not just exercising).”

She has created a support group for women all over the world that focuses on taking the negativity out of the word “fat”! Found here, the support group gets to the root of the issue in order to achieve a real breakthrough in healthy weight loss.

One of the ways she shares how she lost the weight and is helping others to do so is through the Keto diet. “One of the most important parts of my journey is the fact that I live a ketogenic lifestyle. This is a lifestyle and not a fad diet.”

Jamie’s website goes on to say that through workshops, group sessions and social media, they share their struggles and successes with weight loss. Although weight seems to be their primary focus, F.a.T Gurl Fitness knows that it starts with total health and wellness of the mind, body, soul and spirit!
