Dr. Larry Ferdinand, Jr. is a board certified ophthalmologist. He was born and raised in Shreveport, LA. He received his diploma from C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport. He finished cum laude from Xavier University of LA with a major in biology/pre-med. After finishing his undergraduate education, he worked two years in biomedical research on prostate cancer at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport in which he co-authored three articles that were accepted into scientific journals. He went on to complete his medical training at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC in 2007. Dr. Ferdinand finished his preliminary medicine internship at Howard University Hospital along with his ophthalmology training in 2011. He is a member of the American Medical Association, National Medical Association, Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
