CAUTION: Doctors Warn Against Trend Of Glitter In Your Vagina

All that glitters is not gold.

(*shaking my head*) Why do people continue to do stuff like this?

There is honestly a growing trend when it comes to women’s vaginas that is quite disturbing. No, it’s not vajazzle, or vaginal rejuvenation like it was some years ago. Now it’s glitter.

You heard right: Glitter. In. Your. Vagina (shaking my head again).

It’s called “Passion Dust,” and its manufacturers emphasize that the product “does not induce or create any physical sensations or physically alter your sexual performance.” Rather, the “only purpose” of the glitter capsules is “to add a sparkle and flavor to your natural vaginal fluids.”

That’s what they say, but medical experts are warning that the effects might not be limited to enhanced sexual passion.

Because the glittery substance contained in the gelatin capsule are sugar-based, that sugar could increase the production of bad bacteria in the vagina and lead to bacterial vaginosis. It could also damage the good vaginal bacteria leading to infections and put users at greater risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections.

In an Q&A on the company who sells passion dust’s website, Pretty Woman Inc., they stated the following:

“Any gynecologist would tell you that NOTHING should go in your vagina! and nothing concerning the vaginal region comes without some possible risk. You shouldn’t have sex without a condom and even latex can be hazardous if you happen to have an allergy, you shouldn’t use tampons, douche, powders, perfumes, toys, lubes, lotions, oils and beware of dirty nails and fingers!…The point is; People have opinions and love to share them.”

The company went on to reiterate that the “contents of Passion Dust are not harmful but, medical professionals are obligated by their oath to advise women against the use of products such as Passion Dust or any product that introduces foreign bodies or objects into a woman’s vagina.”

“We understand that, which is why at the end of the day it is a matter of choice for a woman. But we do not want women to fear trying Passion Dust. If you have pre-existing issues or a history of vaginal issues such as yeast infections or are just hyper sensitive then of course we do not advise you to use it.”

According to obstetrician and gynecologist Shazia Malik, the ingredients used in these capsules could cause painful inflammatory discharge and even tiny scratches to the vagina.

“Using a product like this so called passion dust might actually kill off any passion at all,” she told The Independent.

“The starch and gelatin will increase the pH as well as adding sugar to vaginal secretions – which will…

… encourage harmful bacteria and fungi such as Candida to thrive,” Dr. Malik says.

“This causes increased discharge and a painful inflamed vagina, which causes painful intercourse.

“Also the glitter capsules can cause tiny scratches to the vaginal mucosa during sex, again allowing harmful bacteria to infect the vaginal walls. Even worse it’s possible that some glitter pieces may even migrate up through the cervix in to the womb lining and have exactly the same effects there.”

So you be the judge.

Either you wake up, strip down and take a look at your vagina in all it’s infinite glory to see just how magical it is on your own or put some “passion dust” in it to see if that helps.

But from what I can remember, women don’t like any kind of dust down there.
