While many are celebrating this year’s Father’s Day, the one day where we honor the men who taught us how to walk tall, act tough, showed us how to fix things, gave us an example of what a real man is–all the while loving us–there are some of those men who are no longer with us.
And for that is tough. Tough for the parents who had to bury their sons. Their sons who were friends and some who were fathers themselves. Burying any child is extremely hard for a parent. It’s like it goes against the natural order of things.
So today, this Father’s Day, we say their name and remember them.

Michael Brown Jr (Father: Michael Brown, Sr) – Killed August 9, 2014
Oscar Grant, father of one – Killed January 1, 2009
Trayvon Martin (Father: Tracy Martin) – Killed February 26, 2012
