While many of are still trying to make sense of the death of music legend, Prince, the state authorities who are investigating his death found prescription opioid medication on him and in his Minnesota home, law enforcement officials confirm.
The pills are commonly used to treat discomfort, and investigators have brought in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to help with the case, the source said Wednesday.

It is estimated that between 26.4 – 36 million people abuse opioids worldwide with an estimated 2.1 million people in the U.S. suffering from substance use disorders related to opioid medication. Everyone has experienced aches and discomfort from an injury or illness. Those that have chronic aches can easily become addicted to opioids because discomfort is real and constant.
Remember when Prince had to have an emergency landing due to “the flu” just a week before his death? Well, there may be more to that story than was originally reported.
Investigators believe a health scare about a week before Prince’s death, which caused an unscheduled landing of his plane in Illinois, was likely the result of a reaction to the medication, the official said.

The pilot told air traffic control that a passenger, later known to be Prince, was unresponsive.
Prince was treated for a potential overdose of medication, the official said.
The singer was reportedly rushed to a hospital in Moline, Illinois. His publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, later said he returned home and was fine.
Prince was 57 when he died last week at his home in a Minneapolis suburb.
