Date night is needed in any and every relationship you may have because it’s the time to explore new things with the ones you cherish. Though a date night at any time of year can be magical, there’s nothing like the perfect date night out during the holiday season. From all the beautiful decorations to all the fun holiday events that you and your loved one can do, date night during the holidays is a sight to see.
When searching for date ideas, you first want to take into consideration your location. If you live in a city such as New York, Atlanta or even Chicago there are a few things you can do to enjoy the city during the holidays.
Dinner And A Stroll Through The City– A great idea for date night is to have dinner and then walk through the city to see all the lights. This is the time of year that many stores have holiday decorations up and the city decorates public areas with lights and decorations. Walking through to see all that the holidays have to offer and taking pictures to save memories is a great way to end date night.
Go Ice Skating– This is a fun date idea to do during the day or at night. You and your partner could take a trip to Bryant Park (New York) and skate under the city lights all while enjoying festive holiday music. Ice skating is also available in Glover Park (Atlanta) and Millenium Park (Chicago).
Go See A Show– This is the perfect time of year to go see a holiday play. Watching the Rockettes on Broadway or seeing the Nutcracker live in action are great ways to spend some time with your partner. Once the show is over, catch a nice dinner or make the trip to a small cafe to unwind and talk about your favorite parts of the play.

Just because you may not live in the city, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a nice holiday date night with your person. There are many fun and festive ideas to choose from outside of the city.
Go See The Holiday Lights– Taking a drive to see the holiday lights or driving through neighborhoods to see which houses have the best decorations up, and judging which homes are the best is a great holiday date night. Enjoy some hot chocolate and a pastry while you do!
Volunteer At A Food Pantry Or Shelter– Not only are you doing something that benefits others, but volunteering with your partner is a great bonding experience to have.
Do Christmas Karaoke– Show off your skills with a sing-off of Christmas carols at karaoke night with your partner. This is a great way to have fun, enjoy each other and create a memory that you can look back at and enjoy (or laugh at). If you are of age, have a few drinks before or during karaoke night to make it even more fun.
Say you may be in a long-distance relationship or you live in an area that doesn’t partake in the holiday festivities, you should still be able to enjoy a holiday date night and fortunately, you can. There are a few ways to enjoy date night during the holidays even if distance or your location doesn’t work in your favor.
Have A Bake-Off/Gingerbread Competition– Enjoy a fun and friendly competition with your partner to see who can make the best gingerbread house or whose Christmas cookies have the best decorations. This can be done on Zoom or FaceTime.
Host A Christmas Movie Night– Decorate your home with fun and festive Christmas decorations, make (or order) a delicious dinner, pull out the holiday treats, and have a Christmas movie night. This is the perfect way to spend a nice evening with your partner while enjoying the season. You can do this on zoom or facetime as well. Though there are so many ideas to choose from, whatever you decide to do for date night make sure you are enjoying the company and making memories that you can look back and reminisce on in the future.
