As a Black creative entrepreneur, I am constantly tapping into new ways to learn, get inspired, stay inspired, perfect my craft and spark my creativity even more. I started my creative entrepreneurial journey five years ago, and if I were being completely honest I just jumped right in. I mean really, all in. Money, time, everything. I didn’t have a clear blueprint or team to help me navigate entrepreneurship. I just knew that I liked to do things on my own, I was driven to build a legacy for my children, I didn’t want a cap on my finances or how far my money could take me, I was resourceful, my authenticity is like no other and I’m passionate about what I do.
I let my creative spirit lead while tapping into new ways to get inspired and learn, whether that be through music, art, spending time outdoors in nature, enhancing or updating my living space (I love adding plants and new furniture), networking with other creatives/entrepreneurs or a good read.
Speaking of good reads…There’s nothing like a good read! Especially when you have a cozy blanket and a warm cup of tea in hand to accompany you. Am I right, or am I right? A good book on entrepreneurship offers a new light and a fresh perspective.

2. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, will keep you on your toes for sure. I can read this book over and over and will find a new takeaway every single time. This book advocates the importance of financial literacy, financial independence and building wealth. It really emphasizes focusing on assets, running your own business, taking risks, making your money work for you and overall financial intelligence.
3. 48 Laws of Hustling by Ricky St. Julien II, is all about creating your path to success. The key takeaway I received was you can and will thrive in the face of adversity. We each have the power to change our narrative. It comes down to, how bad do you want it. By “it”, I mean success.
4. 12 Months to $1 Million by Ryan Daniel Moran, gives you a clear road map to your first $1 million in stages. If you’re a new entrepreneur looking to launch a profitable business, this book is for you.
5. The Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett, will leave you motivated to truly live the life you want. Barlett shares his experience in life and business, which provides practical advice and strategies to obtain a successful business and everyday life.
6. The Psychology of Selling and Persuasion by Leonard Moore, you’ll find ways to reach your goals, planning methods, effective strategies, sales techniques and presentations, and persuasion/how to close a deal. The gist of it all is, that selling techniques is a skill you’re able to learn.
