9 Black Women Who Prove ’50+ Is The New 30′

Table of Contents

“Black don’t crack.” “Black girl magic.” “The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice.” Whatever phrase you like to use applies to these stunning Black women. For decades, Black women have surpassed the beauty mark by being strong, independent, intelligent, and beautiful, all while taking everything that life throws at them in stride. Honestly, as a man, I can’t see how they do it.  That is why I had to take time to honor those beautiful women who personify ageless beauty in their fifties and beyond.

1. Cynthia Bailey, 58

First up is this real housewife, who has defied being 50+ every single day. The model-turned-businesswoman stripped down to show just how beautiful women can be at any age—just like fine wine!

2. Michelle Obama, 61 Michelle Obama

A proud, card-carrying member of being 60 and over, the former First Lady (sheds a tear), is fit and fine with a great sense of humor to match. No wonder former President Obama snatched her up and offered to quit his job when he found out Michelle was his boss. Love will do that to you sometimes!

3. Elise Neal, 59

My, my my. What can I say about Ms. Neal? The Tennessee native is fly, fine, and in charge. She’s grown since her time on “The Hughleys” TV show, as well as parts in “Rosewood” and “Scream 2”. The 50-year-old spends her time in between sets cooking and running. You go, girl!

4. Sanaa Lathan, 54

What can we say about Sanaa? She was fine, is fine, and will always be fine. The “Love & Basketball” star has a down-to-earth beauty that is out of this world.

5. Nia Long, 55

Nia has long since (pun intended) been the dream of men, young and old, since she graced the big screen in the classic films “Boyz N the Hood” and “Friday”.

6. Robin Givens, 60

Robin has kept a pretty low profile since her time on the hit show, “Head of The Class”. But the “Boomerang” movie star is still in charge on and off-screen. She credits her good looks to her genes and saying goodbye to stressful situations. Amen to that!

7. Viola Davis, 60

If you were to look up the phrase “Best Year Ever,” I’m sure Viola Davis’ picture would be plastered all over the screen. The accomplished actress is making history, earning award after award and doing it with such grace, style, and intelligence that she captivates us all. This married mother of one gets my vote in the “fine & 50+” club!

8. Regina Hall, 54

Regina Hall can be funny, serious, intellectual, and everything else–effortlessly. Her girlish beauty is just icing on the cake to her wit and personality.

9. Lela Rochon, 61

Lela Rochon was the epitome of my childhood crush. She was beyond fine with her silky skin, and she didn’t take no mess either. She was the “IT” girl before Sanaa Lathan and right there with Nia Long. It’s hard to believe she’s over 60, but she wears it so well!

Honorable Mentions:

Since they technically aren’t in their 50s, but they are still fine–we have to include the list below:

Honorable Mention: Angela Bassett, 67

We don’t know how it’s possible, but every time we see Angela, it’s like she’s aging in reverse. Talent, looks, and personality? This mother of two has it all! And there are no signs of her slowing down. Good Lord! Keep it up, Mrs. Bassett-Vance!

Honorable Mention: Vanessa Williams, 62

She’s a singer, former Miss America, accomplished actress, and even a grandmother…Vanessa Williams has got it going on. She’s pushed past scandal, failed relationships, and even abuse to share the message of love and forgiveness. Keep on doing your thing!

Honorable Mention: Robin Roberts, 64

Don’t let her smile fool you — news anchor Robin Roberts has been through it all, but still comes out on the other side smiling bigger than ever. From breast cancer to a rare bone disease, this talented and beautiful media maven is a great example of what perseverance looks like. We salute you, Robin!
